Spike Grid
Spike grids are used to increase the strength of timber connections. A flat spike grid is pressed between two flat wooden members, secured by a bolted connection, while a single curve spike grid is used to connect a flat timber to a round pole or piling. In many applications, a spike grid will lower labor costs and reduce the number of holes per joint.
Common timber structures that use spike grids include: timber pilings, wharfs, bridges and pole buildings. Both plain steel and hot-dip galvanized grids are available.
